2.  Creating things, specifically a dress for Wendy.

A Special Sunday

I am grateful for:
1.  Hearing an apostle of the Lord, he spoke of tithing, walking with fellow Christians to ensure our religious freedom is secure, the law of the harvest (we must continue to sow if we want to reap), and how we do not move up or down in the church when we receive or are released from calling, rather we move forward when we fulfill the calling and back when we do not.
2.  A husband who lets me take naps, every Sunday!!

Positive

I am grateful for
1.  positive people, thoughts, and children.  I love it when someone says something nice about someone or something, when I have such a thought, and when my children share such thoughts.
2.  Kyle is getting better (in my opinion) in social situations.

The need for gratitude

I need to be grateful, for I am feeling quite depressed (for use of a better word).  I feel like a failure for a mother, in fact to let you know how negative I am feeling, at this moment in time I would say I should not have more children, because I cannot rear them properly.  Now I know that this has to be an exaggeration so I am going to focus on the positive.
1.  I have children and a husband who vocally express their love for me without prompts.
2.  I am able to stay at home, which requires that I grow and stretch.

Forgetting

I am grateful that
1.  I forgot that I had unloaded the dishwasher yesterday, so when I went to do the dishes it was already half done.
2.  Children forget the injustices that a parent puts upon them quickly and they forgive and love so easily.

Independence

I am grateful for Independence!!!
1.  The independence my children show as they grow, dressing themselves, taking responsibility for a particular toy, putting their seatbelt on.
2.  The independence that was fought for so that I am free to make decisions based on my beliefs.

I am grateful for children who love and forgive me, often.
I'm grateful for LOVE.

Sacrifices

I am grateful for people who sacrificed things in order that I can live as I do today.
1. Men and Women who fight for our freedom. Today we visited Vicksburg battle field. It was entertaining and made me grateful.
2. Joseph Smith and the early saints. The boys are doing the scripture and talk tomorrow in Primary, it is about the restored church.
3. My Savior. This of course is the biggest sacrifice. I am grateful for it, my knowledge of it, and my testimony of how it should affect my life.

what I'm NOT grateful for...

I am not grateful for...
1. My lack of patience
2. Children who do not respond unless I raise my voice (this is most likely because they know that they do not have to until it is raised)
3. A husband who forgot our anniversary

So what does that lead to in gratitude
1. I have this life to work on being more patient.
2. I have wonderfully active children who love to play.
3. I have a husband who loves me, provides for me, and supports me.

Optimism/ Hope

I don't think I could make it through life without optimism sometimes known as hope. Why?
1. This is what allows me to see the good in others.
2. This is what allows me to struggle through hard times.
3. It is what keeps me sane!

2. I am grateful for living in a land that allows this type of freedom.
3. I am grateful for a church that teaches the importance of choice and the necessity of consequences.

Conference

I think if I kept this journal for years every six months a similar entry would appear. I am grateful for conference. Why???
1. It always seems so directed to me personally.
2. It is so applicable to our times.
3. I love to feel the spirit.
And why this particular conference?
1. The speakers all seemed so optimistic, President Monson in particular whose entire talk was on gratitude and keeping a positive attitude.
2. The themes of this conference, faith, trust, choice, and following the prophet are all applicable to me.
